The General Company for Silos & Storage
- The General Company for silos and storage is an Egyptian Shareholding company followed to the Egyptian Holding Company for silos and storage company of the Ministry of Supply.
- The company was established by a decree issued by the Prime Minister on 25 May 1888 an Egyptian Shareholding company.
- On 25 February, 1967, the General Assembly of this company decided to change its name to “General Company for silos and storage”.
The company practices many important strategic activities that serve the economy and its food security. It is the reception of grain containers in different ports and unloading them with the latest means at high rates and storing them in the silos that they have in the various ports inside the republic. These silos are equipped with the latest means for handling grains and storing them. Where the quantity through a high-precision electronic weighing recorder to record the quantities received from the ships or loaded from the silos, and in terms of quality using the latest methods of storage by electronic network and computers that give a clear picture of each Of the stock in addition to the ventilation and evaporation equipment provided by the silos, other than the laboratory equipped with the latest laboratory equipment in which the analysis of samples received and determine their placement
Egyptian ports silos
- At the end of the 1950s, Egypt began to build silos in ports and internal silos.
- In the field of ports silos, concrete silos have been established with a storage capacity of 100 thousand tons for the silo.
- In order to keep up with the technological development in the storage of grain, metal silos were established. The storage capacities in Egyptian ports reached 580 thousand tons in different ports (260 thousand tons in Alexandria ports – 220 thousand tons in Damietta port –100 thousand tons in Safaga Port) Different emptying capacities up to 6 thousand tons / hour.
